Sakeliga verwelkom die terugtrekking van Eskom se vrystelling van die Wet op Openbare Finansiële Bestuur. Die teruggetrekte vrystelling sou Eskom toegelaat het om nie onreëlmatige besteding in hul finansiële state aan te meld nie. Sakeliga ondersoek tans of ander staatsentiteite soortgelyke vrystellings ontvang het. Ons het die proses geloods met die indiening van PAIA-versoeke, wat geweier is, en verdere regstappe word geneem.
Summary
Sakeliga welcomes the withdrawal of Eskom's exemption from the Public Financial Management Act. The withdrawn exemption would have allowed Eskom not to report irregular spending in their financial statements. Sakeliga is currently investigating whether other government entities have received similar exemptions. We initiated the process with the submission of PAIA requests, which were denied, and further legal action is being taken.
